A classic 3-day adventure from Marrakech into the heart of the Sahara Desert. You’ll cross the mighty Atlas Mountains, explore ancient kasbahs and dramatic canyons, and spend a magical night under the stars in a luxury desert camp. It’s the perfect introduction to Morocco’s incredible landscapes.
Your adventure begins with an 8:00 AM pickup from your Marrakech hotel. We’ll ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass with stops for panoramic photos. Your first major stop is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and legendary film location. After exploring, enjoy lunch locally before continuing to Ouarzazate, “Africa’s Hollywood.” Drive along the scenic “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” and through the fragrant Rose Valley before arriving at your accommodation in the Boumalne Dades area for the night.

After breakfast, journey to the stunning Todra Gorge. Walk at the base of its sheer 300-meter-high cliffs, a world-renowned spot for rock climbers. Continue towards the desert, stopping for lunch en route. Pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, before arriving at the golden dunes of Merzouga. In the late afternoon, mount a camel for a serene trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a spectacular sunset. Arrive at a traditional desert camp for a night of Berber hospitality, featuring a hearty dinner and music under the stars.

Wake early for a breathtaking desert sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel or 4×4 to the village of Merzouga. Begin the scenic drive north to Fes. You’ll travel through the vast palm oasis of the Ziz Valley, stop for lunch in the mountain town of Midelt, and then continue through the Cedar Forests of Azrou (home to Barbary macaques) and the alpine-style town of Ifrane. You’ll arrive in the ancient imperial city of Fes by evening, where your tour concludes.
