Travel into Morocco is owned by a Berber family from southeast Morocco. Mohamed and his family lived as nomads in the Sahara Desert until he was 10 years old. They raised animals, but life in the desert was very difficult because there was very little water.
To find a better life, Mohamed’s parents decided to settle in one place. With other nomadic families, they built a small village, dug wells, and started farming. After about ten years, the water became scarce again, and farming could not continue.
The family then moved to Merzouga, a small village where many tourists come to enjoy the desert and camel rides. They brought their camels and began offering desert trips with overnight stays. Mohamed continued going to school, thanks to schools built by the Moroccan government for nomadic children.
After finishing school, Mohamed and his family started a tour company that offers trips across Morocco. Mohamed and his brother work as tour guides. They also support local Berber nomad communities, helping their business give back to the area.
