10 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! A member of our team will greet you at Marrakech Menara Airport and provide a comfortable transfer to your riad or hotel in the medina. The rest of the day is yours to relax or take a first stroll through the vibrant streets.

Day 2: Over the Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou & Dades Valley

Depart Marrakech after breakfast. Cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for photos of Berber villages. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning clay fortress featured in many films. After lunch, continue through Ouarzazate and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. In spring, you’ll pass through the fragrant Rose Valley. Arrive at your hotel in the Dades Valley by evening.

Day 3: Todra Gorge & Camel Trek into the Sahara

After breakfast, drive to the impressive Todra Gorge for a walk between its towering canyon walls. Continue through the oasis towns of Tinjdad and Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops. Arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga in the afternoon. Here, you’ll mount camels for a tranquil trek into the desert, pausing to watch the sunset over the sands. Arrive at your desert camp for a traditional dinner, Berber music, and a night under the stars.

Day 4: Desert Sunrise & Journey to Fes

Wake early for a breathtaking desert sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga village. Begin the long, scenic drive north to Fes. You’ll pass through the Ziz Valley oasis, stop for lunch in Midelt, and travel through the Cedar Forests of Azrou (home to Barbary macaques) and the alpine-style town of Ifrane. Arrive in Fes in the evening.

Day 5: Guided Exploration of Ancient Fes

With a knowledgeable local guide, immerse yourself in the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest living medieval city. Explore its labyrinthine alleys, visiting key sites like the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the Chouara Tannery, the Nejjarine Museum, and vibrant artisan quarters.

Day 6: Roman Ruins & the Blue City, Chefchaouen

Depart Fes and travel to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, where you can explore well-preserved mosaics. Afterward, continue your journey into the Rif Mountains, arriving at the iconic Chefchaouen in the afternoon. Settle into your riad and enjoy your first walk through its famous blue-painted streets and the main Outa el-Hammam square.

Day 7: To the Atlantic Coast: Rabat & Casablanca

Leave the mountains for the coast. Your first stop is the capital, Rabat. Visit the Hassan Tower and the ornate Mohammed V Mausoleum, then explore the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas. Continue to Casablanca and check into your accommodation for the evening.

Day 8: Casablanca & Return to Marrakech

This morning, discover Casablanca. Visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, which towers over the Atlantic Ocean, and take a walk along the Corniche. See landmarks like Mohammed V Square and the famous Rick’s Cafe. After lunch, drive back to Marrakech on the highway.

Day 9: Discovering the Red City, Marrakech

With a local guide, uncover the wonders of Marrakech. Visit the opulent Bahia Palace, the historic Saadian Tombs, and the bustling souks. Find tranquility in the beautiful Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, and see the iconic Koutoubia Mosque. Your exploration culminates in the vibrant, unforgettable spectacle of Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

Day 10: Departure from Marrakech

After breakfast at your riad, enjoy some free time for last-minute souvenir shopping. Our team will transfer you to Marrakech Menara Airport for your departure flight, bringing your grand 10-day Moroccan circle to a close.
